Dear Mozzie Dude,
I'm sorry but our brief sojourn together in the jungles of lim chu kang has now come to an end. I hope the 3 nights I spent feeding you, and helping you get fat was a wonderful, orgasmic one for you. Though, I did move around a lot those 4 days, I hope you're happy i was in the jungles helping to feed your entire family, uncles, grandmother, grandfather, aunties, nephews and nieces included.
Right from the beginning in the Urban environment in some ulu part of Ama Keng, a land that look strangely like taking the Singapore-KL bus service down Malaysia, I watched my friends fire away. Not at you, of course, only people in the movie Wanted, starring Angelina Choli, can shoot insects that small. And when all the firing ended in the night, I met your friend Mr Rat. He was running around the building I was supposed to sleep in. He didnt disturb me though. I was too tired to care anyway. You just kept feeding on my exposed hands, and neck. But that was ok, I still slept well enough.
The second day was when all your family and friends held an F1 party at an open space in the jungle. The sky provided house pours on the house, it just kept pouring all day. You lapped up all the joy and in your drunken frenzy, you went into overdrive coming after the small land rover I had to make house in. You bit through my uniform, you bit through my sleeves. You enjoyed my muddy boots. You had one hell of a party, didn't you!
The third day was a short stay away from you in the morning. Finding comfort at National University Hospital. It was my first time there. I had my first casualty of the field camp, and it was pretty serious. Hence, it warrant an evacuation to the Hospital for a good 5hours. I apologise for my brief absence, I hope those who remain behind was suffice to your hunger pangs. It was such a long day that day, compounded by my land rover having a flat tyre in the middle of nowhere in the jungle that night. While we tirelessly fix the tyre, your rather big and muscular mosquitos friends came out to give us some instructions in our eyes. Though I couldn't understanding that annoying buzz you call instructions, I understood the gesture. You were just trying to help right? I'm sorry I swatted back, like I said I was rather annoyed by it.
On the fourth day, much went by without incident, I realised that spraying a little insect repellent can help to prevent your bee friends flying all over me. Thank god, because I don't really like bees very much. They fly very unpredictably, you know what mean right? It was a sad day I know. I was surprise not many of you came out to say goodbye. Maybe because i was more muddy then wet, the scent couldn't attract you. It's alright, though.
In all, our brief vacation together was splendid. Thank you for letting me into your abode for those 4 days. I really had a good time, tiring, and itchy sometimes, but I had a good field camp.
Thanks Mozzie Dude.
Regards,
CPL Md Hanis
ps. Please ask your Urban cousins, "Where's the Love?" Dengue is really scary and painful, we mean peace, stop the war. Tell them of the 4 days I stayed in your home, how we both got along swimmingly. There's no need for the killing.

The Starting Line - Best Of Me
Tell me what you thought about when you were gone
And so alone
The worst is over
You can have the best of me
We got older
But we're still young
We never grew out of this feeling that we wont give up
Here we lay again
On two separate beds
Riding phone lines
to meet a familiar voice
And pictures drawn from memory
We reflect on miscommunications
And misunderstandings
And missing each other too
Much to have had to let go
Turn our music down
And we whisper
"Say what you're thinking right now"
Tell me what you thought about when you were gone
And so alone
The worst is over
You can have the best of me
We got older
But we're still young
We never grew out of this feeling that we wont give up
Jumping to conclusions
Made me fall away from you
I'm so glad that the truth has brought back together me and you
We're sitting on the ground and we whisper
"Say what you're thinking out loud"
Tell me what you thought about when you were gone
And so alone
The worst is over
You can have the best of me
We got older
But we're still young
We never grew out of this feeling that we wont give up
Turn our music down
And we whisper
We're sitting on the ground
And we whisper
We turn our music down
We're sitting on the ground
The next time I'm in town
We will kiss girl
We will kiss girl
Tell me what you thought about when you were gone
And so alone
The worst is over
can have the best of me
We got older
But we're still young
We never grew out of this feeling that we won't
Feeling that we can't
That were not ready to give up
We got older, but we're still young
We never grew out of this feeling that we wont give up

All Time Low - Remembering Sunday
He woke up from dreaming and put on his shoes
Starting making his way past 2 in the morning
He hasn't been sober for days
Leaning now into the breeze
Remembering Sunday, he falls to his knees
They had breakfast together
But two eggs don't last
Like the feeling of what he needs
Now this place seems familiar to him
She pulled on his hand with a devilish grin
She led him upstairs, she led him upstairs
Left him dying to get in
Forgive me, I'm trying to find
My calling, I'm calling at night
I don't mean to be a bother,
But have you seen this girl?
She's been running through my dreams
And it's driving me crazy, it seems
I'm going to ask her to marry me
Even though she doesn't believe in love,
He's determined to call her bluff
Who could deny these butterflies?
They're filling his gut
Waking the neighbors, unfamiliar faces
He pleads though he tries
But he's only denied
Now he's dying to get inside
Forgive me, I'm trying to find
My calling, I'm calling at night
I don't mean to be a bother,
But have you seen this girl?
She's been running through my dreams
And it's driving me crazy, it seems
I'm going to ask her to marry me
The neighbors said she moved away
Funny how it rained all day
I didn't think much of it then
But it's starting to all make sense
Oh, I can see now that all of these clouds
Are following me in my desperate endeavor
To find my whoever, where ever she may be
I'm not coming back (forgive me)
I've done something so terrible
I'm terrified to speak (I'm not calling, I'm not calling)
But you'd expect that from me
I'm mixed up, I'll be blunt, now the rain is just (You're driving me crazy, I'm)
Washing you out of my hair and out of my mind
Keeping an eye on the world,
From so many thousands of feet off the ground, I'm over you now
I'm at home in the clouds, and towering over your head
"Well I guess I'll go home now...
I guess I'll go home now...
I guess I'll go home now...
I guess I'll go home"

When milk don't taste so good...
Milk turns sour. Buy a new one.
Relationship turns sour. Buy a new one?
No, it's not that bad. I don't think so. I don't think.
Emotions cloud thoughts. Thoughts shape emotions.
All one in the same. Who will let up first?
The answer determines outcome.
But, only momentarily...
Relationship turns sour. Drink the sour. Endure.
Milk turns sour. Throw it away, stupid.

What Should I Start My Comic Book Collection With?
I want this sexy animal in the palm of my hands. Yet, I don't know whether I want this to be my first comic book I will ever purchase. (Of course, I will not count Kiasu, because that is just a no count.) I am torn! I want this! Yet, I want something else... Arghhh...
And this is One of the something else. Especially, in light of the success of Dark Knight, and Mr Ledger's super cool potrayal of the Joker, this comic suddenly becomes an ultimate fave. And it is written by Alan Moore, it is a sure Hit. I'm gripped. I want!
Another wonderful comic book which I know, despite the flop of the Hollywood take, would be a wonderful start to my Comic book collection. As with all Alan Moore stories ie. V for Vendetta, League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen, and perhaps, the coming Watchmen, you know the movies are not nearly as good as the comic itself. Which is why I'm drawn by this book. Fictional characters from classic literature. How can this not be a good start right?
But, I'm not sure. There are other titles that I would love to have in my collection. I would love to have the V for Vendetta comic in my collection, the Iron Man omnibus, the Marvel 1602, Wanted, and of course, I want WATCHMEN.
Who watches the Watchmen?
The first comic book I have read in years. This really should be my first purchase for keepsake. It was such a pleasure reading this book.

Mobileblog - Hell Hath No Fury
I stare at the dragon before me. Her skin red as blood, her nose smokes like burning charcoal, her fangs like pointed spears aligned ready to strike without mercy. The heat from her core makes her perspire, yet they evaporate even before they can trickle freely to the floor. No one is free. But that does not grip me. It is her eyes. Piercing like daggers into my soul. Her eyes are fire. Fury has no match against the firestorm that burns in her pupils. I am afraid. But only a fool or an ignorant would not be.
I know the source of the fire. The apex of the source, from which the firemen would aim his hose towards to quench the thirst of the furious flames. It is the discomforts within. The bloatedness of her insides, the excruciating and uncontrollable cramps, the nausea of pain. It causes her to scream into the abyss.
I am scared. But I am scared because I care. This dragon is not a dragon, after all. She is my love. And it is her time of the month. And no matter what my fears may be, I will still stay right here. Looking into the dragon's eyes, I will be burnt, I will be bitten. But, I stand anchored to the ground, I will stay right here for her.

Being Alone Is Plain No Fun
I don't mean literally, of course. I am not alone. I have Siti, family and friends. But there is this lingering feeling of loneliness still. How can I explain it?
You see, after a good year of life in the Army, it has finally hit the point where most of your best buddies ORD, and there you are just stuck in camp. While they prepare to convert back to civilians, you still wear Green. It just ain't no fun. I know this feeling is temporary because growing up means moving on.
But, you can't deny the fun you have had in the year with these guys. You spend almost all your weekdays, day and night, doing everything as one unit. They become a part of your life and suddenly, when the time draws near to move on to better things, you are still here enduring the regime and the Green life.
Now, it's just down to the very few of us left. I become the "Lao Cheow" of the bunch. I have been in Guards for almost a whole year already. Yet, 8 more months still seems so freaking long man.
Oh well, just as time has passed by with these guys, this is the fresh new generation. The Third Gen of Medics I will see forming the Platoon. Slowly, but surely, I will see my time come. Now, must lan lan suck thumb and go chiong with the Battalion as they move closer to Ops.
Cheebye.

Motion City Soundtrack - L.G. Fuad
Let's get Fucked up and Die,
I wanna know what it's like to be awkward and innocent, not belligerent.
I wanna know how it feels to be useful and pertinent and have common sense.. yeah
Let me in, let me in to the club, cuz I wanna belong,
And I need to get strong, and if memory serves,
I'm addicted to words and they're useless.
(In this department)
Let's get fucked up and die..
I'm riding hard on the last lines of every lie,
And the BMX bike of my life is about to explode,
I'm about to explode.
I'm a mess, I'm a wreck.
I am perfect, and I have learned to accept all my problems and short comings,
Cause I am so visceral, yet deeply inept.
I want to thank you for being a part of my forget-me-nots and marigolds..
And all the things that don't get old..
Is it legal to do this? I surely don't know.
It's the only way I have learned to express myself through other peoples' descriptions of life..
I'm afraid I'm alone and entirely useless...
(In this department)
Let's get fucked up and die.
For the last time with feeling
we'll try not to smile
As we cover our heads and drink heavily into the nights
That still shock and surprise.
I believe that I can, overcome this and beat everything in the end
But I choose to abuse for the time being,
maybe I'll win, but for now I've decided to die.
Sister soldier
You’ve been such a positive influence on my mental frame
If I could ever repay you,
I would, but I'm hard up for cash
And my memory lacks initiative.
God damn the liquor store's closed,
we were so close to scoring
it hurts, it destroys 'til it kills..
I am tired and hungry and totally useless.
(In this department)
I'm speaking figuratively, of course,
Like the last time that I committed suicide.. social suicide.
Yeah, so I'm already dead on the inside,
But I can still pretend with my memories and photographs,
I have learned to love the lie
I wanna know what it's like to be awkward and innocent, not belligerent.
I wanna know how it feels to be useful and pertinent and have common sense.. yeah
Let me in, let me in to the club, cuz I wanna belong,
And I need to get strong, and if memory serves,

Tales From The Mo Blog
These are stories written on my handphone. Usually tales from my travels or as i stone my time away when in the army... They are ideas or just plain random writings that are just there to fill the void of emptiness and space...
31 July 2008
The air is still, calm, peaceful. Just like the ocean in which our eyes gaze upon as we sit by the coast. Tonight is a special night of revelry. We have come together after many many many months of conflict with no resolution. Sitting next to each other, you sense the awkwardness, you fell restless and you break into those dreaded cold sweats. There she is, boy, the girl of your dreams right in front of your eyes. Those fights seem so meaningless now. Petty, unnecessary disputes which are blown by with the breeze that caress her lovely long black hair.
You smile and slide your hand into hers. You know, tonight is special. Tonight is just beautiful.

I have a hobby. My hobby is to make things a hobby. Yet, these hobbies bear very little fruit because half the things i want to do are things that are just one too many steps beyond my comfort zone. The easy zone which my brain has adapted and called home. They are in no way impossible to accomplish but, the chore of adapting is as what it is, a Chore. So everything becomes a pedestrian, a desire to get to the other side of the highway but not wanting to build the bridge to get across. If you get my metaphor.
There is so many things I want to accomplish in such a short span of time. I want to be a musician, entertaining people with my one big passion, music. Letting them feel the emotions I have felt growing up listening to the spectrum of music and connecting with most. Enjoying every nook and cranny of what it has given me, and wanting to be a part of it all. A musician. I have fallen in love with graphic novels, and want to just absorb myself in these comics which I never did when I was a kid. I would like to master digital photography because capturing emotion and beauty is fascinating to me. I want to be a competent dancer, able to at the very least, not look like a doofus next to my wonderful girlfriend. Better still, impress her with my rhythm and skill. I am letting loose a very adventurous side of me when I say I'm keen on getting into rock climbing. I am a chicken, a pussy really. I am afraid of height, rollercoasters, and everything that involves my feet not firmly grounded on land. Hence, I have been afraid to do all this adventure stuff and now, I know I was so stupid and missed out on a lot of shit when I was younger. Lastly, as I mature, I have develop this taste for travel. I have met people who have gone on travels with just a big back and minimal money. Living in hostels, and still experiencing cultures of foreign lands and meeting people from across the continents. I want that experience. I want to live a backpacker life for a while. I want to see the world.
There are just so many things I want to do. I guess it is normal for any 21 year old to do all the stuff they can, especially since we're aware that time is running out for us. Adulthood is already at the door. But, problem with me is I want all these things at one go, without due consideration of time and money and feasibility of it all. I want the world but not conquer each island, each country, each continent at a time. I just want it all Now Now Now.
Gah.. The Greed of Me. No wonder I never learn to do anything right.

Water Under The Bridge
The past needed to be erased. They were not happy ones. They were struggles, they were yesterday's news. I do not want them. They are bad memories.
Let us move forward, shall we.
